The Faculty of Law of University of Dar es Salaam is the oldest law training institution in East Africa. It was established on 25th October 1961 following a decision of the Self Rule government under then Chief Minister Mwl Julius Kambarage Nyerere in February 1961 in order to train lawyers for the Eastern Africa region.
